Announce something with the flash banner
The flash banner is a short message across the top of your homepage. Use it for anything time-sensitive: a new dish, a nearly sold-out tray, a changed pickup spot, a holiday closure.
Steps
- Open Promotions → Flash banner.
- Write the message. Short — it is a banner, not a paragraph.
- Pick a tone: New items, Selling out, or Promotion. The tone changes the styling so the urgency reads at a glance.
- Add a call to action if there is somewhere to send people.
- Save, then check your storefront.
Keep it current
A banner still saying "New autumn menu!" in February makes a kitchen look abandoned. Clear it when it stops being true.
Quick habit: whenever you publish a week, glance at the banner and ask whether it is still accurate.
Good and bad
| Instead of | Write |
|---|---|
| "Order now!" | "Thursday pickup — orders close Tuesday 6 PM" |
| "New menu" | "New this week: green chile pork tamales" |
| "Almost gone" | "3 family trays left for Saturday" |
Specific beats enthusiastic. Numbers and dates give people a reason to act.
Not the right tool for
- Going away — use vacation mode, which can also stop orders.
- Your permanent story — use Website → Pages → Public story.
- Taking the site down — use Website → Publish & share → Site status & address → Pause site.
