Manage website pages, navigation and SEO
Open Website → Pages → Pages & navigation. Choose a section, make your changes, then select Save website. The same controls are also available on Homepage.
Search previews and visibility
In SEO, enter a homepage title and description that explain your kitchen and what customers can order. Blank fields use your existing site information. You can override the title, description and sharing image for individual pages. These are suggestions to search engines; the displayed search result can differ.
The visibility setting requests whether search engines should index your storefront. Turning indexing off does not make the website private or prevent people from opening its address. Search engines need time to process changes. Meta keywords are optional and do not improve Google rankings.
AI assistants
Your storefront home page includes the menu that is open for ordering, both as page text and as structured data that search engines and AI assistants understand. AI assistants that read web pages, such as ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity, can see your dishes, prices, dietary tags, pickup times and place names, order-by cutoffs and payment options. Only what customers can order right now is included, and pickup street addresses are never included. There is nothing to set up.
Stovefront asks AI training crawlers (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Google-Extended, Applebot-Extended and CCBot) not to collect your storefront for training AI models. AI search and assistant tools can still read your menu. This is a request that reputable crawlers follow, not a technical block.
Customers can also connect Stovefront to their assistant (Claude, ChatGPT or Grok) at
https://app.stovefront.com/mcp. A connected assistant can find kitchens that are open
for ordering, read your menu and pickup times, and give the customer a link to your own
storefront with their dishes already in the cart. It cannot place or pay for an order:
the customer reviews the cart and submits the request on your storefront. Kitchens with
search indexing turned off are left out of assistant searches, and sample storefronts
never appear. See Use an AI assistant for what
customers see.
An order placed with an assistant's help is an order request like any other: you confirm it, and the customer pays through your card checkout or payment methods.
Business details and images
Use Business to review your city, service area, business category and opening hours. Existing kitchen information provides defaults where available. Only publish a street address if you want it visible to everyone; you can select a saved pickup address.
In Images, add a sharing image and useful image descriptions. Describe what the photo shows instead of repeating keywords. Dish names provide fallback descriptions.
Custom pages
In Pages, add a title, address and plain-text content. A custom page uses an address
such as /your-kitchen/pages/catering, or /pages/catering on your custom domain.
Keep it as a draft while writing, then mark it published and save.
Draft pages are excluded from the public website, menu and sitemap. Removing a page also removes its navigation links when saved. Changing a custom page's address changes its URL; update shared links because custom page addresses do not have automatic redirects.
Navigation links
In Navigation, add links to built-in pages, published custom pages or a full external
website address beginning with https:// or http://. Choose labels customers will
recognize, rearrange the links and optionally open external links in a new tab. Save to
update both desktop and mobile menus. You can have up to 20 links and 30 custom pages.
Google Search Console
In Google, follow the Search Console link and add your public address as a
URL-prefix property. Choose HTML tag verification and copy only the verification
token from the tag's content value into Stovefront. Save, then return to Google to
verify ownership. Submit the sitemap address shown in the editor.
If you use a Domain property instead, follow Google's DNS verification instructions. Saving a token does not itself verify ownership. Search performance reports remain in Search Console.
Google Analytics
Copy the G- measurement ID from your GA4 property's web data stream into the Google
settings and save. In Google Analytics, disable enhanced measurement's browser-history
page-change tracking because Stovefront sends its own page views.
Visitors must accept optional analytics before tracking loads. Private order pages and storefront previews are excluded, and page-view locations omit query strings. Visitors can change their analytics preference later. Clear the measurement ID and save to disconnect. Analytics reports remain in Google Analytics; this setting does not provide Google account sign-in or reports inside Stovefront.
